SPORTS IN THE HOMESCHOOL

Is sports really important to homeschoolers?

Are sports necessary?

Although there are some folks who do not want their children involved in competitive sports, they do agree that their children do need wholesome exercise. We have no problem with that point of view, and we respect those who hold those views.

However, we ask that you please respect our point of view in that we do believe that sports can be an important part of a child's homeschool educational experience. Here is how taking part in sports can enhance a child's life:

1. They will learn how to get along with others.

2. They will learn how to obey authority figures.

3. They will learn that there is something more important than themselves, as they strive to be an asset to a TEAM.

4. They will get exercise and sunshine, both important components of a healthy lifestyle.

5. They will learn coordination and grace.

HOME SCHOOL SPORTS

We encourage all the support groups out there to begin forming teams. There are many teams in Wisconsin already. Perhaps we can begin to form leagues, and have home schoolers begin playing each other. Right now, there are some groups that are already playing other home school teams, also private and Christian school teams.

We ask that if you have sports activities and teams available, you email us to let us know, so that we can publish that information on this website.

Thank you!!
